Last updated: May 2026

At Your Safe Neighbourhood, we take our responsibilities under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) seriously. This statement outlines our commitment to data protection and your rights as a data subject.

1. Our Commitment

We process personal data transparently, fairly, and lawfully. We only collect the minimum amount of data necessary to provide our community services and ensure we have a valid legal basis for all processing activities.

2. Your Data Subject Rights

Under the UK GDPR, you have the following eight fundamental rights:

  • 1. The Right to be Informed: You have the right to know how your data is being collected and used. This is covered in our Privacy Policy.
  • 2. The Right of Access: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you (often called a "Subject Access Request").
  • 3. The Right to Rectification: You can ask us to correct any inaccurate or incomplete personal information.
  • 4. The Right to Erasure: Also known as the "right to be forgotten," you can request the deletion of your personal data in certain circumstances.
  • 5. The Right to Restrict Processing: You have the right to request that we limit the way we use your data.
  • 6. The Right to Data Portability: You can request that your data be moved, copied, or transferred from our platform to another service.
  • 7. The Right to Object: You have the right to object to us processing your data for certain purposes, such as direct marketing.
  • 8. Rights in Relation to Automated Decision-Making and Profiling: We do not currently use automated decision-making or profiling that has legal or similarly significant effects on you.

3. Exercising Your Rights

If you wish to exercise any of these rights, please contact our Data Protection Officer at dpo@newsafeneighbourhood.co.uk. We will respond to your request within 30 days, as required by law. Most of your information can also be accessed and updated directly through your account settings.

4. Data Security & Storage

Your data is stored securely on servers located within the UK or the European Economic Area (EEA), ensuring a level of protection equivalent to that provided by the UK GDPR. We retain your data only as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services.

5. Data Protection Authority

If you are unhappy with how we handle your personal data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's independent authority set up to uphold information rights.

For more detailed information on how we handle your data, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
